Foundation Housing Association (FHA) is a registered housing provider operating in Leicester. It has more than 760 properties let at affordable rents, with 35 units, including our male and female hostels, receiving support from a Supported Housing Officer.
To register with FHA you must be over 18. If you are under 18 you will require somebody to act as a guarantor for you. This person will be responsible for making sure the rent is paid and tenancy managed well until you reach 18.
You will need to complete a housing application form which is available from our office at 8 Faraday Court, 40 Conduit Street, Leicester LE2 OJN. Alternatively, you can Contact us and ask us to send you a form or you can download one from below.
Please note we are unable to consider asylum seekers for permanent accommodation until their asylum status has been confirmed.
It is important that the necessary proof is submitted with your housing application form otherwise it will not be considered and will be returned to you resulting in unnecessary delays. If you require any help completing the form, Contact us to make an appointment with a customer service advisor who will be happy to assist.
What happens once my form is completed?
Once you have returned your completed housing application, it will be assessed using a points system based on your current housing situation and need. You can request a copy of the points system from our office.
We will write to you and inform you how many points you have been allocated within 10 working days. Remember if you have a change in circumstances after making your application, it is important that you let us know so we can reassess your points.
How long does it take to get a home?
Unfortunately, it is impossible to say how long you will be on our waiting list before you are made an offer. However, we can give you an estimated time based on turn-over at your chosen areas. We can only offer you a property once an existing tenant issues their notice to leave a property.
We aim for half of our empty properties to be let through our own waiting list. The other half are let via Leicester City Council. They operate a choice based lettings system called Leicester HomeChoice. Everyone who registers with them will have the opportunity to look at available properties across the city as they become available and register an interest in applying for that home.
For more information click here to visit the Leicester HomeChoice website. It is very important that you register with Leicester City Council as well as other housing associations.
If you are a council or housing association tenant, you could look into mutual exchanges or home swaps. Please log on to the HomeSwapper website here or go to your local housing office to view the mutual exchange book.
Alternative options include low-cost home ownership schemes such as shared ownership or HomeBuy. For more information, contact East Midlands Housing Group on 01530 276000 or visit the website here.
